Centenary weekend
On the May bank holiday weekend Bude scout group celebrated its 100th birthday by holding an exhibition and open weekend at the Parkhouse Centre, Bude.
There was all sorts of things for people to see and do. There was a collection of old pictures from the group, badge making, junk boat making, lego models, circus skills, knot boards, mock up camp, food and more.
The Explorers helped put together to the mock up camp by making a traditional camp dresser out of branches. The leaders and 2 of the older Explorers also made a dinning shelter out of pioneering poles.
Last night at Explorers they made a flintstone car from pioneering poles and huge barrels. It worked really well, especially going to hill!

Coast 2 Coast
Over the weekend the two leaders and two Explorers took part in Mid-Cornwall Districts coast2coast challenge.
We went down Friday night and set up camp at Nineashes. Saturday morning we awoke early, 6!! to frost covered tents and a chilly start. After brekky we were coached to the start line at Par. From Par we then followed roads and footpaths back to Nineashes. We walked 22 miles, and once at camp had plenty of time to relax and recover and have some tea. Sunday morning was another cold frosty start. After brekky we then left the campsite and again followed roads and footpaths to Port Issac. This section of the walk was 12 miles.
The weekend was great fun and the weather was clear, sunny and hot! We managed to complete the 34 miles in 11 hours and 25 minutes, smashing all our previous years time!! This was our fifth year. Again we went in fancy dress and came first out of the very few groups who dressed up
We all got a badge and certificate for completing the walk.

Great month of fundraising
This month has been the best so far concerning fundraising for the Kandersteg trip. This month alone we’ve made nearly £3000!! This is been through bag packing, donations, letterbox meet, wine and wisdom and music evening. Were well on our way to reaching our goal!!!
Concerning the Kandersteg trip, unfortuently we’ve had to rearange about 4 days of activities due to activities being booked up or lack of staff. It does mean that some people will miss out on some activities but we have added others and it’s looking to be a busy week whilst were out there.
Activities and catering have been book and hopefully there’ll be no more problems with the itineary.
Happy Easter everyone

Busy time ahead
Last night we met up with Lanson Explorers for an evening of bowling. The evening was really good and hopefully we’ll meet up again soon for another joint activity.
Last Friday we had a wine and wisdom in aid of our Kandersteg trip. We made about £600 which means this month we’ve made almost £2000 towards our trip
Next week is our last explorer evening as we are breaking up for the easter hols. The next month is going to be busy for us with the Coast 2 Coast challenge, St George’s Day parade, the groups centenary open weekend and party and a camp incorporating a bag pack for Kandersteg.
